What cutout does a 60 cm hob need?

Around 560 mm as a rule, though it moves by model and the figure on each listing is the one to trust. That 40 mm gap between appliance and aperture is what holds the hob up. Cut to the product width instead and there is nothing left for it to sit on.

Is 60 cm big enough for a family?

It is the international standard and takes three or four zones comfortably. The reason Singapore kitchens often go wider is wok cooking, which wants a big dedicated burner and room to move around it. If you cook on two rings at a time, 60 cm is not a compromise.

Can I swap a 60 cm hob without touching the carpentry?

Usually, as long as the new hob's cutout is the same or smaller than the hole you already have. You can never go smaller than the existing aperture without new worktop. Send us the opening width and the model you are looking at and we will check it against the spec sheet first.
