Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a 60 cm and a 45 cm oven?

That number is the height, not the width. Both are usually 60 cm across and drop into a standard-width housing. A 45 cm oven is shorter, holds less, and is often a combi steam or microwave model that stacks above a full oven or fills a gap where a tall one will not go. This one trips people up constantly.

What cutout does a built-in oven need?

A 60 cm oven typically wants around 560 mm wide by 590 mm high. Height is the dimension people forget, and it is every bit as fixed as width. Both are on each listing, along with depth.

How many litres do I actually need?

Full-height ovens here run roughly 65 to 76 litres. The gap between 66 and 71 is usually one extra shelf position rather than a dramatically bigger cavity. It matters if you bake on two levels or roast something large. Otherwise it is not the number to agonise over.

Does an oven need its own circuit?

Most full-size ones do. They draw more than a 13A socket supplies, so a licensed electrician runs a dedicated circuit for them. The requirement is on every listing. Confirm it before the carpentry, because pulling a new cable in behind a fitted oven housing is a miserable job.

What is a steam or combi oven for?

Steam keeps food moist where dry heat dries it out. Fish, dim sum, double-boiled soup, reheating rice without it turning to gravel. A combi does both, so it can steam and then brown. If you mostly bake and roast, buy a conventional oven and spend the difference on the hood.
