Will my pans work on induction?

Only if they are magnetic. Cast iron and most stainless steel are fine. Aluminium, copper and glass are not, unless they have a magnetic base bonded on. Stick a fridge magnet to the bottom of your pan. If it holds, the pan works.

Do I need a special power supply?

Usually yes. A 13A socket supplies roughly 3,000 W and most full-size induction hobs want more, so they need a dedicated circuit run by a licensed electrician. The power requirement is on every listing. Sort this out during the renovation, because adding a circuit afterwards means chasing walls.

Can I wok on induction?

Not the way you would on gas. A flat-bottomed wok works on a flex zone, but you lose the flame wrapping up the sides, and that is what wok hei actually comes from. Plenty of people run an induction hob for everyday cooking and keep a single gas domino for the wok.

Is induction better than gas?

For speed, control and cleaning, yes. Boiling is faster, the surface wipes flat, and there is no flame heating the kitchen, which matters in Singapore. Gas still wins for wok work and keeps working when the power goes out. It is a genuine trade rather than an upgrade.
