How do I know if I am on LPG?
There is a cylinder, usually in a cabinet beside or under the hob, and someone delivers replacements. No piped supply, no City Energy bill for gas. Landed properties and older or unpiped blocks are the common cases.
Where does the cylinder go?
In a ventilated cabinet, not a sealed one, and the installer will tell you what that means for your carpentry. Worth raising with your contractor while the kitchen is being planned rather than discovering it on installation day.
Can I put an LPG hob on Town Gas later?
Only via a manufacturer conversion kit fitted by a licensed worker, and not every model has one. If you know a piped supply is coming, it is usually cheaper to plan for it now than to convert later.
Who is allowed to install it?
A Licensed Gas Service Worker, same as Town Gas. It is a legal requirement rather than best practice, and it covers the cylinder connection as well as the hob itself.
